The "Girl" project was started by the Ministry of Social and Health Affairs as a reaction to the increased focus on appearance as well as the sexualization of young people by the media. On of the goals of the "Girl" project was to create debate and influence attitudes about mass communications.
In two big campaigns, "Girl" had the nerve to point out individual media examples and contact powerful media people and hold them accountable for their messages.
The results exceeded all expectation. We got thousands of letters from engaged individuals, often young women. Both campaigns generated lots of articles, radio programs and heated debates on TV sofas. And, as a bonus, the Ministry received a Golden Egg and the "Gold Script" 2006 award.
